Emotional Intelligence
Using Your Emotional Intelligence for Enrichment and Success
Emotional Intelligence has been linked with well-being, health, coping and success. Those who understand and manage their emotional life are better able to address problems, build strong relationships and communicate effectively. Yet, most of us know very little about our emotions.
The workshop will cover basic skills of Emotional Intelligence:
- Perceiving and Identifying Emotions
- Understanding Emotions
- Managing Emotions : stress management
- Expressing Emotions : assertive communication
- Identifying emotions in others
- Listening effectively
- Assisting others to manage their emotional responses (including anger)
- Recognising our defensive responses
- Managing our defensive responses
- Accepting criticism
- Resolving conflict
- Engaging and inclusive communication
- Using emotional information to assist in addressing problems and building relationships
Through theory, discussion and practical exercises, you will increase your awareness and knowledge about your emotions and your emotional style, and you will take away skills that can be applied to everyday life. You will have strategies to manage emotions when they become extreme - both yours and others. You will understand the value of being clear about feelings and expressing feelings assertively. You will learn how to get your needs met through more effective communication of your emotions and you will be able to listen more effectively and understand the emotional patterns of others.
Improving your Emotional Intelligence will help you to:
- Express yourself clearly and effectively
- Build open and trusting relationships
- Control potentially damaging emotional outbursts
- Handle conflict and difficult personalities
- Provide support for others
- Reduce stress
- Increase self-esteem
- Effectively engage and influence others
- Use emotional information to make better life decisions
The Emotional Intelligence program is an enjoyable one, two, or three-day experience. The program includes interactive participation, practice, and personal reflection for lasting results.
